Cognitive hypnotherapy & Life Coaching
Treatments
I'm often asked about what Cognitive Hypnotherapy can be used for. The answer to this is that the potential uses are pretty much endless.
We often think of hypnotherapy as being used to overcome problems such as phobias, smoking addiction, weight loss, and so on, but in fact it can be used for so much more.
As hypnotherapy works at the subconscious level, it can be useful for making many changes in an individual’s life that doesn’t necessarily involve curing problematic behavior.
For example it can be used to help achieve some of life’s goals that somehow seem to be endlessly put off till a later date. Perhaps you may want to improve at a given sport or become a better public speaker, or maybe you simply want to be more proactive in life and spend less time procrastinating.
Once we realise that most of our actions in life are determined by our subconscious (emotional) mind then we begin to realise that relying on willpower alone to affect change in our life is not really the best route to take. Using willpower pits our conscious (logical) mind against our subconscious urges. This may be quite successful for a while (though not a pleasant way to live) but at times when you feel down, physically or emotionally drained, then your subconscious mind does its work.
An example of this is when many smokers manage to quit for months, sometimes years, yet when they get to a low point in their life they take up smoking again. On the face of it, it makes no sense as their physical/chemical addiction to nicotine has long since past. However when you consider that the person’s will power is at its lowest when they're going through a rough patch in their life, we can then see how it allows the subconscious in with a subconscious trigger (a belief) which was never dealt with. It may be the belief that a cigarette will help to relax, or that it reminds the person of a happier and more sociable time when they weren’t alone.
Fortunately, Cognitive hypnotherapy is a bespoke therapy which takes care of the fact that one person's reason for doing something is most likely to be very different to another person's. So by gathering information from each client the therapy can be tailored specifically to deal with each individual's subconscious thoughts and emotions. This way in cognitive hypnotherapy we never use statndard scripts for dealing common issues.
